New research and clinical experience suggest that Leucovorin may be helpful for children with:
Developmental regression
Speech delays or language plateaus
Attention and focus difficulties
Poor response to standard therapies alone.
We use standardized autism monitoring questionnaires (ATEC) when starting the medicine at several intervals in the first 6 months to monitor for improvement.
We stay in close contact with you throughout the process to ensure the treatment is tolerated, safe, and ideally helpful. If it's not the right fit, we pivot to other strategies—always with your family’s goals in mind.
Our clinic isn’t just about diagnosis—it’s about understanding your whole child. We take a developmental, relationship-based approach that supports your child’s strengths while addressing challenges. We focus on family-centered care, practical strategies, and individualized recommendations that fit into your real life—not just a checklist of therapies.
Yes! We do autism evaluations in our office. Click here for more information.
No referral is needed! Families can schedule directly with us. Whether you’re just starting to have questions or you’ve been navigating developmental concerns for a while, we’re here to help you figure out next steps with clarity and compassion.
We evaluate and support children from toddlerhood through adolescence. We adjust our approach based on developmental stage, sensory profile, language abilities, and family dynamics.
Absolutely. Many families come to us after a diagnosis from another provider but feel overwhelmed or unsupported. We help interpret past evaluations, offer clear next steps, and provide a coaching-based model for parents who want to take action with confidence.
Instead of giving you a generic handout, we work to understand what’s underneath the struggle—whether it's sensory processing, gut discomfort, emotional dysregulation, or routine mismatch. We then offer practical strategies, visual tools, and home-based support plans that are custom to your child.
Yes. We work with families across the communication spectrum. Our support emphasizes understanding behavior as communication, using visuals, routines, and regulation tools, and supporting alternative communication methods when needed.
Yes. While we emphasize science-backed approaches, we also recognize that each child’s biology is unique. We work with families who are curious about:
Functional nutrition
Folinic acid prescription
Gut-brain connection
Environmental
We help you navigate these choices thoughtfully, responsibly, and in alignment with your child’s needs.
Folinic acid is a bioavailable form of folate that can bypass certain metabolic blocks. Some children—especially those with folate receptor autoantibodies (FRA) or mitochondrial challenges—may have difficulty transporting folate into the brain.
Supplementing with folinic acid can:
Improve language and social engagement
Reduce neurological symptoms
Support overall development
We guide families on how and when to explore this option, including lab testing when appropriate.
Folinic acid is generally well-tolerated, especially when started at a low dose and monitored closely. However, some children may experience increased hyperactivity or agitation if doses are too high or not balanced with other supports. That’s why we never recommend starting supplements blindly—we individualize dosing and monitor responses carefully.
Folic acid is the synthetic form found in many vitamins and fortified foods, but it needs to be converted by the body into an active form of folate to be used effectively. Folinic acid is a bioavailable form that bypasses several conversion steps—making it potentially more effective for kids with certain genetic variants (like MTHFR) or metabolic issues that affect folate processing.
Yes—and often, it’s more effective when it complements other supports. Think of folinic acid as a nutritional foundation that supports brain function. When paired with speech therapy, occupational therapy, or behavior therapy, you may see faster or more sustained progress, especially in communication and regulation.
Yes. If there’s a strong clinical reason (e.g., developmental regression, expressive language delay, or certain neurologic symptoms), we can help families pursue FRA testing through trusted labs.
Not always. While FRA (folate receptor antibody) testing can be helpful, they’re not always necessary before starting a carefully dosed, monitored trial of folinic acid. We’ll walk through your child’s developmental history and risk factors to determine if testing is recommended or if it’s safe to begin with a clinical approach.
We approach supplements like we do everything else—through a whole-child lens.
Some children may benefit from: Omega-3s, magnesium, iron, zinc or probiotics.
We work to simplify and prioritize rather than having an overwhelming regimen to keep up with.
Our goal is progress with purpose.
